After the winter preparation of our judokas, the first international tournament — the Pohár nadějí (Cup of Hopes) — was held in Prostějov on January 20, 2024, in the U-18 category, where our club’s excellent competitor Filip Hančík took 3rd place.

In February, another important tournament awaited Filip — the Czech National Championship, held in Brno. Here too he confirmed that he belongs among the national elite, proving it by winning a bronze medal.

On the first weekend of March, during a camp, our judokas underwent technical and physical preparation for the demanding tournaments ahead. First in line was the Czech Cup Ostrava JUDO Open, attended by a total of 1,300 competitors from nine European countries. Our club was represented by three judokas in three categories: Václav Kule, Matyáš Kobsa and Filip Hančík. V. Kule finished in 21st place, M. Kobsa fought his way to 13th place and F. Hančík to 5th place. Since this is one of the toughest tournaments in the Czech Republic, where foreign national teams compete, our athletes’ performances were excellent.

More tournaments await us in the near future, including ones for younger competitors.
